Booking Intervals in Noona HQ

Written by Rita Gomes
Updated this week

Understanding how booking intervals work in Noona HQ is essential to making sure your calendar is organised and that clients can book at the right times. There are two levels of configuration that work together: the Booking Interval at the company level and the Booking Interval at the staff/resource level.

What's the Difference?

Although they share the same name, these two intervals have distinct functions:

  • Company Booking Interval — The Company Booking Interval sets the time grid of your internal calendar and acts as the default for any staff or resource that hasn't had their own interval configured.

  • Staff Booking Interval — controls the time slots available to clients when they book online.

You can find this setting by going to: Menu → Settings → Calendar

Available options are: 5, 10, 15, 20, or 30 minute units.

For example, if you set it to 15 minutes, your calendar will display time blocks in 15-minute increments. This affects how appointments appear visually on your internal calendar, but it also influences which Booking Interval options are available for your staff.

Company-Level Booking Interval

This setting defines the visual division of your internal calendar. You can find it at: Menu → Settings → Calendar

Available options are: 5, 10, 15, 20, or 30 minutes.

For example, if you set it to 15 minutes, your calendar will display time blocks in 15-minute increments. This setting applies to all staff members on your account and also determines which interval options are available at the staff level.

⚠️ Important: This setting controls the display of your internal calendar and serves as the default for the time slots shown to clients in online bookings, unless overridden at the staff or resource level.

Here's how they align:

Calendar Slot Length

Available Booking Intervals

15 minute units

15, 30, 45, 60, 75, 90, 105, 120, 180, 240 min

20 minute units

20, 40, 60, 80... (multiples of 20)

30 minute units

30, 60, 90, 120, 180, 240 min

In short: the booking interval must always be a multiple of the calendar slot length.

This means that whenever you change the company Booking Interval, you should also review and update the Booking Interval for each staff member to make sure the time slots shown to clients still make sense.

For example, if Ana's booking interval is set to 30 minutes, clients will see available slots at 9:00, 9:30, 10:00, and so on.

How Do They Work Together?

This is the important part: the Booking Interval options available for each staff member depend on the Calendar Slot Length set at the company level.

Here's how they align:

Calendar Slot Length

Available Booking Intervals

15 minute units

15, 30, 45, 60, 75, 90, 105, 120, 180, 240 min

20 minute units

20, 40, 60, 80... (multiples of 20)

30 minute units

30, 60, 90, 120, 180, 240 min

In short: the booking interval must always be a multiple of the calendar slot length.

This means whenever you change your Calendar Slot Length, you should also review and update the Booking Interval for each of your staff members to make sure the intervals still make sense for their services.

Step-by-Step: Changing the Company Booking Interval

  1. Go to Menu → Settings → Calendar

  2. Under Booking interval, select your preferred unit (e.g. 15 minutes)

  3. Save your changes

Step-by-Step: Updating a Staff Member's Booking Interval

  1. Go to Menu → Staff

  2. Select the staff member (e.g. Ana)

  3. Scroll to Booking controls

  4. Next to Booking interval, open the dropdown and select the desired interval

  5. Save your changes

💡 Tip: After changing the company Booking Interval, go through each staff member and confirm their interval still makes sense. For example, if you switch from 30 to 15 minutes, shorter intervals like 15 or 45 minutes will now become available that weren't before.

Things to Keep in Mind

  • The company Booking Interval applies to all staff members on the account and controls the display of the internal calendar.

  • The staff Booking Interval is individual and controls the time slots visible to clients in online bookings.

  • Changing the company Booking Interval does not automatically update staff intervals — you will need to do this manually.

  • Your opening and closing hours define the boundaries within which slots can appear. Booking slots will only be shown within that time range.
